Reptile and Amphibian Leaf Litters
Hand-collected, chemical free leaves that provide shelter, visual barriers, and hiding places for the vivarium inhabitants. Mimicking the role of dead plant matter in the rainforest, Leaf Litter also puts nutrients back into the environment, providing the stuff plants and microfauna need to thrive!
How to Use Leaf Litter
Prep
Since the leaves are collected from the wild, we recommend rinsing them and baking them in a 140F oven to remove hitchhikers.
Cover all moss and soil with a 1" layer of leaves.

Step 1
Sphagnum Moss works best when used with False Bottom, ABG Mix, Substrate Barrier, and Leaf Litter.

Step 2
Add focal points like wood and hides

Step 3
Tuck plants around the decor with tall plants in the back and shorter plants in the front.

Step 4
Springtails and isopods are small insects that eat waste, dead plant matter, and mold.

Step 5
The vivarium is ready for Dart Frogs, or other pets that like low ventilation and high humidity.

What do the different leaves compare?
Live Oak Leaf Litter A small sized leaf about 2-4” long and 2” or less in width.
Magnolia Leaf Litter is a medium sized leaf between 4"-7"
Sea Grape Leaf Litter is a large sized leaf between 4"-8" in diameter.

What animals can use leaf litter?
Leaf Litter can benefit all exotic animals like lizards, geckos, snakes, frogs, toads, spiders, isopods, millipedes, hermit crabs, fish, and more!

Can it be used with other substrates besides ABG?
Yes! ABG is the most common for bioactive substrates, but it could be used with any tropical substrate.

How many bags do I need?
One gallon of leaf litter will cover approximately 1.5 square feet to the desired depth of 1". (Click on product images for a chart)
